The Foundation, which is a Guernsey Channel Islands Charity, was set up by the late Dr. Mary Aylwin Cotton, O.B.E., M.D., Hon. F.B.A., F.S.A. on the 2nd December 1971, with the purpose of promoting the advancement of education and learning by furthering the study of archaeology, architecture, history, language and art of cultures related to the Mediterranean area but without geographical limitation. From 1971 until 31st May 1984, when Dr. Cotton died in Rome, the Foundation was funded in a modest manner by Dr. Cotton and other Benefactors. All Cotton Foundation Fellowship Awards, Publication Grants and other Donations during these years are listed on this site. All previous Fellowship Awards, Publication Grants and other Donations reflect the funds then available to the Cotton Foundation. As a result of Dr. Cotton's death and her further generosity, the funds are now sufficiently substantial for Awards of much greater amounts (up to say £10,000 each per annum) to be within the financial capacity of the Trustees. All publications belonging to the Cotton Foundation are on loan to one of the three following Libraries of the Institutes of the University of London:-
The three Libraries above have kindly agreed that all current holders of Cotton Fellowships, Publication grants or other awards may have free access to those Libraries. Awards Granted by the Foundation Click on a link below to view Fellowship Awards and Publication Grants made in that year | ||||||
